Illustrious Thomas Henry Hamilton, 33°

Worshipful Master, Potentate

Illustrious Thomas Henry Hamilton, 33°was born June 8, 1930 in Vienna, Georgia to the parentage of the late Norman Hamilton and Carrie Holmes. Thomas was one of 14 children; which all have gone on to glory.

Thomas moved to Miami, Florida in 1954; where he completed his High School Education. In 1963 Thomas's life was made whole when he married Ophelia Brown.

Being hardworking and productive was nothing foreign to Thomas. He was a Head Custodian with Dade County Public School Board for over 30 years. Working for Dade County School Board provided stability for his family but Thomas knew that Entrepreneurship was the legacy he wanted to leave. Therefore "Hamilton Fraternity" was established and has been up and running for the past fourteen years. Being a man of distinction and respect, he knew throughout his life; in order to be blessed and have longevity he would have to be a Stewart and Servant for Jesus Christ. And that he did with no hesitation nor questions. Thomas was a faithful Usher of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church for over 55 years.

Thomas was a part of numerous organizations and received countless accolades including: President of the Building Fund of Edison Center in 1972 - Present; International Free & Accepted Modern Masons, Inc. and Order of the Eastern Star since July 1958, he was created a 33° degree Mason in July of 1992; served as Potentate for Mount Sinai Temple #2; Worshipful Master of New Way of Life Lodge #47 for 37 years; received Outstanding Community Service Award from the Mayor of North Miami Beach.

We truly believe that on the wings of death the soul takes flight, to a land where there is no night. On Saturday, April 23, 2011 death simply came to open the door to the Kingdom of God. For those of us who believe what the Savior said, Thomas will truly rise again.

Thomas leave his cherished legacy with his wife of 47 years Ophelia, children Jimmie, (Lisa), Dorothy, Patricia, grandchildren Shantina, Jaytwan, Kesha, Cory, Sheila, Robert, Warren, Branden, Angela and Terrell, 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and extended family.
